Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED: JULY 14, 2026

SendTestEmail.com does one thing: it sends a test message to an email address you provide, so you can confirm that address is receiving mail. This policy describes exactly what information the site collects while doing that, why we keep it, and the choices you have. We work hard to keep a balance between testing, transparency, and privacy.

Information we collect

  • When you send a test: the email address you enter, your IP address, and the date and time. We assign the test a random Email ID and store these details together in our database.
  • Delivery records: our mail server logs each send attempt (recipient address, the receiving mail server, and whether the message was accepted). A delivery-status record tied to the Email ID is kept in our database; it is what the Lookup ID page shows you.
  • When you block an address: the address you submit on the Block page is stored on our block list so we stop sending tests to it.
  • When you contact us: the email address and message you submit on the Contact page are emailed to us. They are not stored in the site database.
  • Ordinary web server logs: like nearly every website, our server records the IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of each visit.

Information we do not collect

The site has no user accounts. We do not ask for or store names, passwords, phone numbers, payment details, or precise location. We never access, read, or scan any mailbox — the service only sends a single test message to the address you give it, and the content of that message is the same for everyone.

Transparency in the test email

Every test email we send states, inside the message itself, the IP address that requested it. If someone enters your address, you can see exactly where the request came from, and you can block future tests to your address at any time.

How we use this information

  • To send the test email you requested and show you its delivery status via the Email ID.
  • To prevent abuse: we limit how many tests can be sent to one address and from one IP address per day, and we honor block lists.
  • To keep records related to the operation of the service and legal compliance.
  • To respond when you contact us.

We do not use your information for marketing. The only email we ever send to an address is the test message someone requested for it (or a reply, if you contacted us).

How long we keep it

  • Raw mail server logs are erased frequently — they rotate out after roughly four weeks.
  • Database records of test sends are retained as long as they are needed for the operation of the service and for legal recordkeeping.
  • Ordinary web server logs are likewise deleted on a rotation of roughly four weeks.
  • Contact form submissions are kept as ordinary business correspondence.

Information we share

We do not sell email addresses or any other visitor information, and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing. We disclose records only if required by law (for example, a subpoena or other enforceable government request), or where reasonably necessary to investigate abuse of the service or protect our rights. Note that delivering a test email necessarily involves transmitting it to the mail provider that serves the address you entered.

Third-party services on our pages

Our pages use a small number of third-party services — for example advertising, abuse-prevention, and font-delivery services. These services change from time to time, so we do not list them individually here. Each receives the technical information a browser normally provides (such as your IP address) and may set its own cookies, governed by its own privacy policy.

We also collect our own visitor statistics on infrastructure we operate.

Cookies

SendTestEmail itself does not set cookies. Third-party services used on our pages may set their own. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site's core function — sending and looking up test emails — works without them.

Your choices

  • You can stop tests from being sent to your address using the Block page.
  • You can control cookies and ad personalization through your browser settings.
  • You can contact us with questions about records relating to your address. Please note we may be unable to delete records we are required to keep for the legal compliance purposes described above.

Children

This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
